Tours and Packages

All of the tours arranged by Los Porticos are led by licensed local guides. Most tour prices are based on four or more persons. Children under 12 are half price. All tours are subject to a 9% sales tax. Tour prices are subject to change. Los Porticos is not responsible for any loss or damages while on tours.

 

OUTER REEF SNORKEL TOURS: These all day snorkel tours usually go to the Silk Cayes; three small coral cayes located on top of the main barrier reef. Occassionally the tour may go to Round Caye, Pompion Caye or Ranguana Caye. Snorkeling on the outer reef is more dramatic than the inner reefs with bigger walls, larger fish and more ocean ecology. These cayes are coral sand cayes with beautiful beaches. It takes approximately one hour to reach these destinations.  Cost includes snorkel gear and lunch (which must be ordered when booking tour).

 

SNORKLING: Los Porticos snorkel tours are not combined with SCUBA diving. The tours leave at 9:00 a.m. and return by 4:00 p.m. Our guides will snorkel with you and are trained to teach beginners. The groups are small ( Ten people or less). Life jackets, water and ice are always on board.

 

DAY SAILING: Net-Dipping, sunbathing, snorkeling, beach combing and just plain fun in the sun. Tuck into our sumptuous buffet lunch served aboard and keep cool with complimentary bar and drinks all day. Great times, great music- an unforgettable experience for the entire family. Cost includes transportation to the boat, lunch, open bar and snorkel gear.

 

SUNSET CRUISE: Sheltered water sailing for all to enjoy with cool drinks and snacks served aboard. Watch the sun melt over the Maya Mountains while listening to great music and perhaps a glimpse of an elusive manatee to round off your perfect Placencia afternoon. Back in time for dinner ashore, soothed and relaxed from your sail. This tour leaves at 3:30 p.m. and returns by 6:00 p.m. Cost includes transportation to the boat, snacks and an open bar.

 

SPORT FISHING, FLY FISHING, SPIN CASTING, TROLLING, DEEP SEA FISHING AND GENERAL FISHING: Placencia has been called the Permit Capital of the World. If you love fishing let us find you the right guide to take you to our flats, lagoons, rivers and reefs in search of Permit, Tarpon, Bonefish and Snook, as well as Barracuda, Jack, Kingfish, Wahoo, Bonito, Tuna, Grouper, Snapper- an endless variety of  fish that you might find on your line! Some rental fishing gear is available but the serious angler should bring their own. The charter rate for one to two fishermen ranges from $275.00 to $325.00 US per day for a boat and guide.  We provide a box lunch upon order the day before the tour is set to sail.

 

MONKEY RIVER JUNGLE WALK: A half hour boat ride takes you to Monkey River Town at the mouth of a lush river. Here we pick up your Monkey River guide who will lead you on the jungle trails or if you choose you may simply motor slowly up the river and do a quiet float downstream, observing the abundant wildlife along the river bank. Monkeys are usually sighted, as well as Iguanas, Crocodiles, Turtles and many species or birds. Lunch is scheduled at Alice's Restaurant in Monkey River Town. The return to Placencia takes you through a maze of mangroves and lagoons, where you may get the chance to see Belize's beloved Manatees.

 

SOUTHERN MAYA RUINS TOUR: Explore our Mayan culture of yesterday and today! Take a boat across the lagoon, where you will meet your van and licensed guide. The first stop is Nimli Punit, a small ruin famous for its stelae. There are a few tours to choose from; some tours you will then travel to the Mayan village of Blue Creek for an adventurous hiking and caving experience. Other tours proceed to Lubaantun, where the famous Crystal Skull was found, then  onto a Mayan Village where you will enjoy lunch. Rates include lunch and park fees.

 

COCKSCOMB BASIN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY: The world's first sanctuary created specifically for the elusive Jaguar. You will register at Maya Center; a picturesque Mayan village where you may visit a Mayan Crafts shop. Then a beautiful jungle road leads to the preserve where you will hike rainforest trails with your naturalist guide. Birders, bring your binoculars! One tour operator offers an invigorating tube float down the river. On other tours you climb to a beautiful waterfall for a cool swim. The Prices include lunch and park fees.
